| | Malaysia Gas Fitting, Laboratory Service Gases, Laboratory Water Fittings, Lab Gas Fitting, Laboratory Gas Fittings | | | Technical Details for Water | METHOD water fittings are designed and developed to meet the requirements of modern laboratories and are specifically for use with potable water in laboratories. When fitting METHOD taps local water by laws must be adhered to. - Materials
All METHOD water taps are made from CZ121 to BS2872, solid brass pressings, machined to close tolerances to ensure product quality. Brass tube is CZ122 to BS2874 bent by CNC forming tools. Brazing material used in all joints is cadmium free 40% silver solder for use with all substances. - Construction
All water taps and outlets are fully brazed in construction with the swivel swanneck the only exception. This creates a robust fitting suitable for all laboratory applications. Water taps and outlets are available with fixed or removable serrated nozzles in accordance with DIN12898. All nozzles are suitable for 8 - 13mm internal bore rubber tube The removable nozzle exposes a 1/2 bsp male thread for attaching accessories and permanent connections. Full bore aerator nozzles are available on all models but need to be specified when ordering. (Please refer to the option selector on the inside back cover). - Connection
Connection to all water taps and outlets is by 1/2 bsp x 60mm long shank coned for a 15mm compression joint. Tap adaptors can be used if preferred. - Testing
Water fittings are tested at 150psi (10 bar) with a high pressure electronic test jig. The designed maximum working pressure for METHOD water fittings is 100psi (7 bar/700 kPa) If different requirements are needed please ask for technical advice. The maximum recommended testing pressure is 1.5 times maximum working pressure. 150psi (10 bar/1000kPa). Water is recommended to test new installations. - Installation
To install all water fittings a 22mm dia. hole and a 5mm hole at 16.5mm centres are required. Pin position is dependant on the tap model. If the fitting is non handed the pin is always to the front. If the fitting is handed the pin is under the handwheel. Please refer to the installation instructions on page 22. - Coating
METHOD water taps and outlets are powder coated with full gloss epoxy powder as standards. The standard colours are: - RAL 7035 light grey - RAL 9005 black and - RAL 9003 white. If no colour is specified RAL 7035 will be supplied. Finished coating thickness is 150 microns. Other finishes such as chrome plating are available and if required please ask for technical advice. - Headworks
Water taps are fitted with EPDM rubber compression headworks with non rising spindle as standard. All other seals are nitrile rubber. Other headwork options available on the water tap range are: 1/4 turn ceramic fast flow, clockwise or anti-clockwise 1/4 turn ceramic lever operated. This option has a torque setting to build in resistance needed when levers are used. - Handwheels
Handwheels are injection moulded in chemical resistant polypropylene and colour coded in accordance with DIN 12920:1995-10 Standard handwheels have three flutes to give the user a more ergonomic control. | | Technical Details for Gas Products | METHOD dry service valves are specifically designed to be used with laboratory service gases and piped natural gas and bottle fuel gases. - Materials
All METHOD needle valves are made from solid brass CZ121 to BS2872 pressings, machined to tight tolerances to ensure product quality. Brazing metal used in all the joints is minimum 40% silver making all fittings suitable for extreme gases such as acetylene. - Construction
All needle valves are fully brazed at all joints to create a solid construction. Needle valves are available with fixed or removable serrated nozzle in accordance with DIN 12898 and are suitable for 8-13mm internal bore rubber tube. The removable nozzle is replaced with a 1/4 bsp male thread for attaching accessories and permanent connections. A quick connect coupling is available as a nozzle option as well as an ancillary product. - OXYGEN VALVES ARE ASSEMBLED WITH - LUBRICANTS SUITABLE ONLY FOR USE WITH - OXYGEN. NO OTHER FITTING SHOULD BE USED. - Connection
To connect all dry service valves and gas fittings a 3/8 bsp tap adaptor must be used. - Testing
Dry service valves are tested at 225psi (15 bar/1500kPa) with a high pressure test jig. The designed maximum working pressure for METHOD needle valves is 150psi (10 bar/1000kPa). If different requirements are needed please ask for technical advice. The maximum recommended test pressure for needle valves is 1.5 times maximum working pressure. 225psi (15 bar/1500kPa). Nitrogen or compressed air are recommended to test new installations. - OXYGEN LINES REQUIRE PURGING WITH WHITE SPOT - NITROGEN IN ORDER TO PREVENT CONTAMINATION. - Supply
Supply should always be through a suitable regulator to ensure desired pressure is maintained. BS3202:1959 Recommendations on laboratory furniture and fittings recommends supply pressure is reduced to 1.4 bar for safety reasons. Dry service supply should be free from particles and contamination. - Installation
To install all needle valves a 16mm hole and a 5mm hole at 16.5mm centre are required. Pin position is always to the front and central to the fitting. - Coating
METHOD water taps and outlets are powder coated with full gloss epoxy powder as standard. - Headworks
PTFE needle headworks with non rising spindle are fitted as standard to give fine control when needed. Other seals are nitrile. Other headworks available are ceramic push turn. We recommend only push turn headworks are used with fuel gases. - Handwheels
Handwheels are injection moulded in chemical resistant polypropylene and colour coded in accordance with DIN 12920:1995-10 Standard handwheels have three flutes to give the user a more ergonomic control. Fuel gas handwheels have four flutes and an indicator to show the headwork position. - Drop Lever Gas Fittings
- Drop lever gas fittings are a fire safe plug cock made from brass pressings machines to tight tolerances and are only suitable for town and regulated bottle gases.
- The grease used is suitable for town and fuel gases.
- Nozzle option is a fixed serrated nozzle suitable for rubber tube connection.
- Connection, installation and finishes are the same as for needle valves.
- All gas fittings are tested at 5psi before shipping.
- Maximum recommended test pressure should not exceed 75m-bar or 30 inches water gauge.
- Supply pressure should be no greater than 1.5 to 2kPa (6-8 inches water gauge)
- All fuel gas fittings should only be installed and tested by a gas engineer.
- When used with bottle gas a local regulator must be fitted to prevent pressure fluctuations.
